31 Days of Contagious Joy
Sometimes the most meaningful gift we can give a resident is not something we purchase—it is a few minutes of our time, a kind word, and a reminder that they are loved and remembered.
The 31 Days of Joy handouts are designed to do just that. Each day features a short Scripture, an encouraging thought, a simple action, and a prayer. The pages are easy to read and can be enjoyed independently or shared together during a visit.
How to use it
For visitors
Bring a day of joy with you! Print or bring one daily handout when you visit a resident.
- Sit together.
- Read the Scripture.
- Talk about the thought.
- Complete the simple activity.
- Pray together.
The handout can become a starting point for conversation and connection—especially for residents who may have difficulty knowing what to talk about. You don’t need to have all the answers. Just sit. Listen. Encourage. Share a moment of joy.
For activity directors
A daily gift of joy for your residents. Use the 31 handouts as a simple daily encouragement ministry—one each day during morning activities, meals, room visits, or other appropriate times. Residents can:
- Read it independently
- Have a staff member read it aloud
- Discuss the daily thought as a small group
- Use the action step as a simple activity
- Read or listen to the prayer
- Keep the handout as a daily reminder of God’s love
The pages are intentionally short and simple, so they fit into an existing schedule without a large activity or additional preparation.
A single visit may last only a few minutes, but the resident may remember how you made them feel long after you leave.
