SCRIPT
Narrator
(Standing center stage, hands open in a welcoming posture. Pause before speaking.)
I have a question for you today: Are you searching for the truth?
(Pause.)
A woman in John 4 was, too.
(Pause.)
The story goes like this: Jesus was tired from traveling and He sat beside a well.
(Pause.)
Then she came.
Woman
(Enter slowly from stage right. Carry a bucket with a rope. Wear a sign that reads SEARCHING FOR TRUTH. Pause beside the Narrator, looking at the audience.)
Narrator
(Gesturing gently toward the Woman.)
Jesus said,
(Pause.)
“Please give me a drink.”
Woman
(Hold bucket slightly toward the audience, confused.)
Why are you asking me for a drink?
Narrator
(Take a small step forward.)
Jesus replied,
(Pause.)
“If you knew who I am,
(Pause.)
you would ask me for living water.”
Woman
(Walk to imaginary well, look down.)
But you have no bucket…
(Pause.)
and this well is deep! Where will you get this living water?
Narrator
(Use soft, warm hand motions.)
Jesus said,
(Pause.)
“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again.
(Pause.)
But whoever drinks the water I give
(Pause.)
will never thirst.
(Pause.)
It becomes a spring of eternal life.”
Woman
(Turn toward the audience with excitement.)
Please—give me this water!
Narrator
(Raise hand gently.)
Jesus told her,
(Pause.)
“Call your husband.”
Woman
(Look down, hold the bucket against your chest.)
But I..I… don’t have a husband.
Narrator
(Nod slowly.)
Jesus said,
(Pause.)
“You spoke the truth. You’ve had five husbands,
(Pause.)
and the man you’re with isn’t your husband.”
(Pause.)
To receive the truth, we must admit the truth.
Woman
(Lift head slowly, surprised and thoughtful.)
Sir… you must be a prophet.
Narrator
(Spread hands outward.)
Jesus said,
(Pause.)
“True worshipers worship the Father in spirit and in truth.”
Woman
(Start pulling the rope as if lifting a bucket.)
I know the Messiah is coming.
(Pause.)
When He comes, He will explain everything.
Narrator
(Point gently upward.)
Jesus said,
(Pause.)
“I AM the Messiah.”
Woman
(Drop the rope or bucket handle. Hand over mouth, eyes wide.)
I found the Messiah!
(Run off stage right joyfully.)
Narrator
(Step center stage again, hands open.)
She told her whole village.
Many believed—not just because of her words—
(Pause.)
but because they heard Jesus for themselves.
(Pause.)
The people from the village said:
(Pause.)
“Now we know He is truly the Savior of the world.”
(Pause reverently. Lights fade.)
Guided Prayer:
Lord, You show up in our lives when we least expect it.
And it is these times that You open our eyes to truly see You.
We see You, as Lord and Savior of the world. Thank You.
We desire to see and understand You more.
You are our Peace, Comfort and Safety.
Come, and guide us today, that we may follow You, Hear You and Serve You.
In Jesus Name,
All those who agree with this prayer and desire Jesus as their Savior say, Amen.
Amen
