Questions Young People Ask
Let’s praise God that we can trust Him with our young people. He has given us many promises in the Bible that we can count on.
Timing is important when we talk with young people about challenging subjects. So, before we do, let’s ask for wisdom. God promises to give it to us:
“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waiver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” James 1:7
If we don’t know the answer to some of the questions they have, let’s be honest, and take the opportunity to seek the answer in God’s word together.

What Does God’s Word Say About:
“I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10
When we are anxious, we don’t know what to do. Do we move forward, step to the right, or to the left? Take a step back and retreat? God says to come to Him, trust Him, and let Him fight your battles.
“‘Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.’ The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.” Psalm 46:10-11 (He will fight for you.)
But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, ‘I believed in God, so I spoke.’” 2 Corinthians 4:13
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self- discipline. So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord.” 2 Timothy 1:7
“The LORD is my light and my salvation - so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident. The one thing I ask of the LORD - the thing I seek most - is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.” Psalm 27:1-4
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” Jeremiah 29:11-13
“This is what the LORD says: ‘Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the LORD who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the LORD, have spoken!’” Jeremiah 9:23-24
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous – how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of the sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!” Psalm 139:13-18
“So God created human beings in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female he created them...Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!” Genesis 1:27, 31
Let’s Pray.
Lord, as we begin a deeper relationship with these precious ones you have entrusted in our care, we seek your help, wisdom and strength. We ask for open communication as we answer questions and challenges these young ones are facing today. We know only You have the answers. Thank You in advance for the answers that are already on the way!
In Jesus name, Amen!
After asking, anticipate that God will show us what to say and the timing. Take hold of the opportunity boldly, and lovingly.
Know God will guide us.
