ACTIVITY OVERVIEW
As Revelation 4 is read aloud, a vivid picture of God’s mighty throne is painted in our minds.
While the youth listen to Scripture and the accompanying song, they will color and illustrate their own vision of what God’s throne looks like.
Each picture becomes an individual art piece that is given to each resident as a reminder that God reigns, God is present, and God is in control.
PROPS
- Blank sheets of paper
- Colored pencils or crayons
- Text copies of Revelation 4
- Bibles
- Sample “Throne Picture” to show as visual example prior to the visit.
- Extra Samples: If there are fewer youth than residents, bring extra printed pictures of God’s Throne so each resident receives one.
- Download music from YouTube or another platform
Suggested Song: “Revelation Song” by The Yuns (or artist of your choice)
SETTING
Children sit in the front of the room, facing the residents.
The Leader stands slightly to the side so residents can clearly see the youth.
SCRIPT
LEADER
(Step forward. Pause. Speak slowly and confidently.)
“God has a plan for every one of us.
One day, He will return and make everything right.
But until that day, no matter what happens in this world,
we can remember this truth:
God is on His throne.
He always has been.
He is now.
And He always will be.
God is still in control — and He always has the final say.”
(Brief pause.)
READER #1
(Raises hand, stands up, and looking up with a curious tone.)
“What does God’s throne look like?”
LEADER
(Hold up a Bible.)
“God gives us an open door to see what His throne looks like.
Let’s listen to His Word and imagine it together.”
[STAGE DIRECTION]
- Divide the Bible reading according to the number of youth present. (or 1–2 readers may read all verses)
- Have youth sit or stand classroom-style in front of the Leader
- Readers stand when it is their turn, then sit back down
- Read slowly and clearly
- Pause briefly between verses to allow the words to sink in
#1 READER: Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.”
#2 READER: And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones— like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow.”
#3 READER: Twenty-four thrones surrounded him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder.
#4 READER: And in front of the throne were seven torches with burning flames. This is the sevenfold Spirit of God. In front of the throne was a shiny sea of glass, sparkling like crystal.
#5 READER: In the center and around the throne were four living beings, each covered with eyes, front and back. (These living beings were a lion, Ox (Which looks like a Bull), Human face, and an Eagle)…… Day after day and night after night they keep on saying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty—the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.”
#6 READER: Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever).
#7 READER: And they lay their crowns before the throne and say, “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”
LEADER:
“The song you are about to hear is called ‘Revelation Song.’
It is a song that describes God’s mighty throne in heaven.
As this song plays, our youth will quietly color a picture of God’s Throne, imagining it the way they see it in their hearts.
At the end of the song, each resident will receive one of these pictures.
